Jodie McLennan

Headshot of Jodie McLennan

As a graduate student at the University of Iowa, Jodie McLennan researches the aurora and the connection between the Earth’s magnetosphere, its atmosphere, and ultimately its climate. She works with satellite, radar, VLF radio wave and camera data to better understand how energetic particles flow from the magnetosphere into our atmosphere (which manifests as aurora!). She started her PhD program in the Fall of 2022 after receiving a MSc in Astrophysics from the University of St Andrews and a BS in Physics and Math from Wheaton College. Jodie is a co-leader for the Women+ in Physics group and graduate student mentor at the University. She is passionate about mentoring students and creating an inclusive environment in STEM.
